How much do I dig Stephen Colbert’s viral hyperreality? Enough to write about him every chance I get. So when White House press secretary Robert Gibbs actually comes out and admits that our president, the gifted political orator Barack Obama, probably couldn’t hold his own against Stephen Colbert? Well, that’s gold, baby. Pure gold.
Snubbed! Obama Can’t Best Colbert, Says White House

Comedian Stephen Colbert makes a living out of pantsing politicians, crusaders and celebrities. So there’s no way the White House is going to let him near President Barack Obama, said White House press secretary Robert Gibbs.
Jon Stewart’s less hyper-real The Daily Show? No problem. “I think the president would love to” appear on The Daily Show, Gibbs told Time’s political blog Swampland, “just maybe not Colbert.”
“I have yet to see a politician best Stephen Colbert in an interview on his show,” Gibbs added. “I mean, he’s really, really good.”
Colbert, whose manic satire of talk-show blowhards has made him a cultural phenomenon, never misses a chance to publicize a snub or a nod, and will no doubt tackle this hypocrisy at his earliest convenience. I’d expect a rant as soon as his show comes back on air after the Olympics.
