More reviews from the Metromix front, pals of Morphizm. I’ve been hard at work listening to good and bad stuff for them, and lucky for me I finally found some great stuff. Which is a nice way to introduce Darker My Love. A better way would be to listen to their new effort, despite its lame name.

Unlike most so-called shoegaze pretenders, Darker My Love has chops and diversity. The angular waltz of “White Composition” recalls the Doors’ “Soft Parade,” the blistering opener “Northern Soul” recalls the Stone Roses, and “Blue Day” sounds like it leapt right out of the Smashing Pumpkins back catalog. Darker My Love can copy like Xerox, but it adds its own 21st century flourishes without skipping a backbeat. MORE
